I wanted to take a quick second and say hello and introduce myself. Long stuff after the jump.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
First, let me say thank you for allowing me to be a part of the community. I have loved cars of all kids since I was a little kid and it is great to be a part of a place where they are the focus. I grew up in north central Indiana in the town of Kokomo. My dad work in component sales to Delco Automotive, before it became Delphi, so he was always around different kinds of cars. When I was kid I loved everything GM and Pontiac. Sitting in the back seat of a car and listening to the Monsoon system rumble was a high light of my pre-teen years. My dad and I searched far and wide to find my first car and he located a 1977 Chevy Malibu that was mint with only 15,000 miles in 1997. I drove it and my grandfathers 1979 F150 with the 400 and more rust holes than the engine had inches. I loved them both, but needed more reliability as I went to college. I went though a line of cars. My favorite was a little Saturn SC1 that I could row my own. I put 140,000 miles on it in 4 years going to college and everywhere else. My adult life has been filled with cars I have worked on with my own hands, a huge plus for me. Another late 90's Saturn, a late 80's Cadillac, and a Late 90's Cherokee all filled me life at times.
I recently moved back to northern Indiana after a few years in Tennessee. I have a wife and three little ones. I want the three little ones to grow up loving cars and wanting to do more than just start and ride. I want my girls to be able to change a tire and oil when its time and I want my son to see a car and have the same change in pulse I do. My current DD is a 1997 F-150. I hope to keep it in good enough shape that be an extra vehicle to years to come.
I am a school teacher by trade and coach basketball in my spare time. You might occasionally see posts from me about history or literature, I promise to not do it very often, but I like to share things that are passions for me.

Thanks. It's one of the few subjects left in school with any art to the way it is taught.

Can't beat cheap labor. For some reason the bottom half is the only clean part.

Welcome! I've had a Saturn.
And a Saturn.
And a Saturn.
And another Saturn.
All with the DOHC motor and manual transmissions. I've done some crazy stuff with these cars.
Oh, and I've had a bunch of other cars too.

Bring all the history and literature you want. You've probably noticed that Oppo is a wildly eclectic mix of people. I'm a 48-year-old professional musician with a doctorate, and I have a passion for both history and literature. Beautiful family! Dat red hair! Welcome!

Somebody did a poll of Oppo ages a while back. 505Turbeaux made a chart based on Facebook data, but I'm not on Facebook, though I imagine most everybody else is. The sampling is definitely heavy in the 18-24 demographic. But there are a number of older folks here. DesertDog is older than me. And also lots of family guys. All in all, it's just a terrific community.
